According to a report in Autosport, the the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) has written to Bernie Ecclestone and FIA President Jean Todt arguing the schedule was drawn up without adherence to the Concorde Agreement.

Eleven of the 20 grands prix planned for next season are classified as flyaways, with the bulk coming at the start and end of the season. The run-in from September 23 sees races in Singapore, Japan, Korea, India, Abu Dhabi, the USA and Brazil. In one four-weekend period in November there are grands prix on three continents - Asia, North America and then South America.

"There is a process for the validation of the calendar, especially with more flyaways, and we will be involved in this because there is a cost issue," FOTA vice-chairman Eric Boullier told Autosport. "There are different proposals at the moment, but it is not so easy to move one date."

Felipe Massa moves on from his bad luck at Singapore

Felipe Massa said he tried to talk to Hamilton immediately after the race but Lewis Hamilton driver "walked away without even answering" which is why the Brazilian driver confronted Hamilton in the TV interview area and tugged on his shoulder before sarcastically congratulating him drawing all the media attention
.
"I am very disappointed with the way things went yesterday: Singapore is definitely not a lucky place for me, given something always happens to me here. As for Hamilton and his behaviour both off and on the track, I have already told him all I had to say: I have not changed my opinion by one iota since yesterday, but I consider the matter to be closed.

 .
Better to think about the next race and about trying to finish this difficult season in a good way, as well as preparing as well as possible for the next one."
.
Hamilton has not commented on the issue and did not turn up to his usual media briefings on Sunday evening.

Anthony Hamilton says that his son's management company XIX Entertainment needs to change the way it is handling his Lewis

"You look up and down the pitlane and every driver, except for Lewis, has a driver-manager in his life, not people from a company," said Hamilton, who was at the Singapore Grand Prix as the manager of  Paul di Resta.

.
"Formula one drivers need people personally involved in the driver's lives because it is a big pressure. You sign up a Formula One driver, so come and do your job. No disrespect to anybody but that's how this business is. I have seen Lewis and he is fine. It is hard right now but he will come back, there is no doubt about that."

Angry Massa renews criticism of 'mindless' Hamilton (itv)

An irate Felipe Massa renewed his attack on what he believes is Lewis Hamilton’s ‘mindless’ driving after the pair clashed for the second successive day on track in Singapore.

The Ferrari driver had questioned his McLaren rival’s driving following qualifying on Saturday after Hamilton tried to pass him towards the end of a warm-up lap in Q3, the pair nearly colliding coming out of the grandstand tunnel as the Briton looked to make some space for his hot lap.

In Sunday's race the pair found themselves in close company around Marina Bay again on when on lap 12 Hamilton, battling back from a poor start, punctured Massa’s left-rear tyre and broke his own front wing when, having tried to pass the Ferrari on the outside of turn seven, misjudged where the Brazilian's car was and clipped its rear wheel.

Stewards issued Hamilton with a drive-through for causing a collision, while Massa dropped down the order after pitting for a new set of tyres, the pair eventually finishing fifth and ninth respectively.

Whitmarsh stands by Hamilton after latest penalty (itv)

.
McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh has no doubt that Lewis Hamilton will learn from the ongoing troubles that have blighted this season and come back stronger, but also insists the Briton should nonetheless be commended for the way he channelled the frustration of another penalty into a storming recovery drive in Singapore.

Hamilton’s driving was again thrust into the spotlight on Sunday evening after he collided with Ferrari rival Felipe Massa in the early stages of the race, doing damage to both cars and him his fourth drive-through penalty of the year.

And although the former world impressively recovered from that setback and four other visits to the pit lane to surge up the order to fifth place at the flag, Whitmarsh was again forced to defend Hamilton’s judgement in wheel-to-wheel situations after the race.

Speaking to reporters in the paddock, the McLaren boss said both driver and team shared the blame for the squad’s disappointing year but felt that there were plenty of positives to take from Hamilton’s performance in Singapore.

Asked what both Hamilton himself and the team could do to cut down on the number of incidents the driver was getting caught up in, Whitmarsh replied: “I think various things have happened. The team can take some blame and Lewis can take some blame.

“I think sometimes in motor racing other things just don’t go your way and you have those runs.

#F1 - Singapore Singtel GP - Felipe Massa "who knows maybe we can fight with the McLarens"

"I think we are in better shape than at the last two races and, who knows maybe we can fight with the McLarens, but we must wait and see what happens tomorrow. The performance difference between the Soft and Supersoft today seemed very high, especially for us, but that's not to say it will be the same on Saturday: the track will rubber in and the situation could change."
.
"Heat was the main feature today and there was plenty of it in the cockpit! From what we could see, tyre degradation is reasonably high, but we know the track condition can change given it was very dirty today. It will also be important to choose the right level of cooling for the brakes and the engine: the race will be very long and tough, both for the drivers and the cars."

Massa was fourth quickest in the second session, just 0.005s slower than Lewis Hamilton in third in the Free Practice 2 yesterday

Lewis Hamilton will be pushing for a good result next weekend at the Singapore Grand prix

"I'll really be pushing for a good result next weekend.
.
I think we had a car capable of winning in both Belgium and Italy, so I really want to make sure we arrive in Singapore with a good set-up, and that we're able to run with it through practice and qualifying. If it all goes to plan, we should be in good shape on Sunday.
.
Even though the title is now almost out of reach I'll be pushing hard for the best possible result. I will never give up and I'll be driving to win as always."
.
Martin Whitmarsh reckons will play a role in what could be an "electrifying" Singapore GP as his drivers attack with the help of DRS.
.
"We go to Singapore feeling very encouraged about our performance potential. I also think we're set to continue the trend we've witnessed so far this season, with DRS enlivening races that hitherto would have been somewhat processional.

At McLaren the reality is that we're fortunate enough to have two drivers who are never satisfied to merely sit behind another car; but the addition of DRS means that we should expect some truly electrifying racing this weekend. The track is wide enough to support close and exciting wheel-to-wheel racing and I sincerely hope that's what we see this weekend.
.
In just a few years, the Singapore Grand Prix has become a classic Formula 1 event - the circuit and facilities are truly world-class and the setting and atmosphere of the race make it one of the jewels of the calendar"

Formula One - the teams consider taking a collective stake in F1

Adam Parr, the chairman of the Williams F1 team, said: "The teams have discussed the possibility [of a bid]. It would be great for us to have a significant stake, though I don't think we should control the commercial rights.
.
We could work alongside Bernie [Ecclestone, the F1 chief executive] and someone like CVC."
Although Mr Parr said that talks were at "an early stage", he added that it would "be better if the teams owned collectively a stake in F1 and had an economic interest".
.
He also dismissed the News Corp/ Exor bid as having "competition issues". News Corp is looking to take full control of BSkyB, meaning that there could be a conflict of interest over the rights to a sport that is highly coveted by television companies.
.
The Times newspaper, and Exor, the holding company of the Italian Agnelli family, confirmed last month that they would like to buy F1 for an estimated $6bn. CVC Capital Partners has not put F1 on the block, but it did acquire the business for $1.7bn more than five years ago. This is normally the time frame that a financial investor seeks an exit, either via a private sale or an IPO on a stock exchange
