Spanish F4 – Verschoor completes domination in Jerez.

#22 Richard Verschoor (NED – MP Motorsport Tatuus F4-T014/Abarth)
Qualifying 1: 5th – Race 1 Grid: 5th – Race 1 Result: 1st
Race 2 Grid from Race 1 result – Grid: 1st – Race 2 Result: 1st
Qualifying 3: 1st – Race 3 Grid: 1st – Race 3 Result: 1st
Spanish F4 Championship position: 1st – 405 points – after 20 of 20 races
Seventeen wins in twenty races is domination, clear and simple and Red Bull Junior Richard Verschoor wrapped up his Spanish F4 season in fine style in Jerez with three victories. It was an almost perfect weekend for the 15-year-old Dutchman who had already locked in the Spanish championship as well as the NEZ F4 title.
Almost, because he was ‘only’ fifth fastest in the first qualifying session. “Yes, well it was a great weekend. The first qualifying didn’t go quite the way we wanted, I didn’t drive that well, the car set up maybe wasn’t quite perfect and I had my best lap cancelled for exceeding track limits. With that lap I would have been P2.”
No problem
Starting from fifth on the grid merely allowed Verschoor to showcase his speed. “I passed two cars on the first lap, the third corner and the fifth. Then I closed in on the front two guys and past them OK. In four laps I was in front so that wasn’t too bad,” explained  Verschoor with his usual easy grin.
After that it was business as usual and he romped to two more victories in perfect weather. “I really loved the track, so cool, fast corners, everything. I so enjoyed the weekend even though I was driving alone most of the time. It was a great way to end the season, I have had a fantastic year with so many great people around us, it couldn’t have been better.”
“I have enjoyed it so much and I have to thank all the people who made it possible and supported me. Now it is time to think about next season and start preparing.”
